Jackalope Carnival: A Sideshow of Stories

Hello and welcome to Jackalope Carnival, a weird history and folklore podcast where we explore human beliefs through the lens of myth, the paranormal, the downright odd, and the occasional cryptid. We follow the strange stories that stick around and the even stranger reasons they do.

The podcast was launched in 2020 by two longtime friends, Bekah and Eric, after too many late-night conversations that spiraled into “You’re not going to believe this” territory. With academic and professional backgrounds in Religious Studies and History, we spend a lot of time thinking about belief, what people believe, why they believe it, and how those beliefs change, twist, and sometimes grow antlers over time. Naturally, this leads us into some very weird territory. So we thought, “Why not make a podcast, since we have these conversations anyway?”

So this is our podcast. With tales ranging from ancient curses and Victorian ghost-hunting devices to monster sightings and UFOs, Jackalope Carnival is our sideshow of stories. We’re part history, part paranormal, part folklore, and part archive of a forgotten roadside museum.

Whether you’re curious, skeptical, a true believer, or just a little odd: step right up and welcome to the Carnival.

New episodes coming September 2025!
