Jackalope Carnival: The Truth is in The Telling
Exciting news: By Autumn of 2026, we’re hoping to transform into a non-profit as we apply for 501(c)(3) status.
So why? Why would a weird history and folklore podcast start a 501(c)(3) foundation? Because we envision a place where the strange and uncanny are recognized as essential parts of the human story. The Jackalope Carnival Foundation will create a living archive of exceptional tales.
We imagine a space where modern accounts of cryptids, ghosts, and aliens can sit beside traditional folk beliefs, waiting to be discovered by future generations. In a time of accelerating technology and overwhelming information, we believe these stories offer something rare. And they remind us what it means to be human.
Our mission is to foster curiosity and connection through storytelling events and oral history projects that bring the tradition back to its communal roots. We are also committed to supporting wildlife sanctuaries and land steward organizations through fundraising at our gatherings. Without mystery, we lose wonder. And without conservation, we lose the places where mystery lives.
At the heart of our vision is a belief that stories matter. Not because they are always factual, but because they are true, true to the people who tell them, to the times they come from, and to the long, strange thread of belief that binds us together.
We are the Story Catchers, gathering tales that hover between urban legend and folklore.
