Who’s Behind Jackalope Carnival?
About Our Weird History and Folklore Podcast
Jackalope Carnival is a podcast about weird history and folklore, a sideshow of stories with a focus on belief and a dash of the downright odd. History is weird, so let’s marvel at the unusual, celebrate the strange and make bad puns.
Meet the Sideshow
Eric: Co-creator. Resident raconteur. Our sound wizard and chaos goblin. Eric co-hosts the podcast with energy, curiosity, and just the right amount of mischief. His storytelling sensibilities are that of a guy who drank a shot with a mummified toe in it. Because he did. His hobbies include playing guitar, making up songs about leeches, and finding conspiracy theories that are just believable enough. Learn more about the Sourtoe cocktail or on our podcast episode, it’s real (gross)!
Bekah: Co-creator. Storyteller and creative spark with the soul and sensibilities of a haunted doll collection. She puts together the visuals and reluctantly trudged through website building. She co-hosts thoughtfully but with snark. Her storytelling style could be thought of as vintage taxidermy but make it introspective. Her hobbies are: dogs, art, making fun of Nietzsche, and singing love songs about the Mothman. She is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation.
Julie: Poetry Maven. Benevolent specter of quality. Julie stays off mic, offering insight and perspective that keeps the team grounded and offers critique, and cosmic balance. Part cheerleader, part cat herder, part friend who kindly tells you not to post that.

Why We Tell These Stories
We believe that folklore and weird history aren’t just entertaining, we think they address people’s deepest concerns, you know, the, “What is out there, who really are we, and why are we here,” questions. These stories address our fears, dreams and most importantly, our humanity. Our little weird history and folklore podcast gives voice to the oddballs, space monkeys, outsiders, dreamers and those who march to the beat of their own drums. Maybe they even made the drum. It was probably made from Yeti fur. These stories happen. We tell the stories that don’t conveniently fit into ideas about how people thought or acted in the past, but these folks, events and anomalies have always been part of human history and belief. We hope Jackalope Carnival gets listeners to laugh a little and inspires them to tell their own stories.
